Exclusive: Mikel Unaware Of Length Of Contract Being Offered By Chelsea
The future of Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel at Chelsea remains covered in mist, with his deal with the Londoners set to run out in the next 15 months.

Chelsea did not get a positive reply after the midfielder was approached few weeks ago to prolong his stay at Stamford Bridge, and he told The Blues suits that he will only decide the next step he’ll take at the end of this season.

Reading between the lines, Mikel found himself down the pecking order of midfielders until the arrival of Dutchman Guus Hiddink, which has contributed to his decision not to commit his future to the capital side until this summer when a new coach is appointed.

“Mikel was invited to the office after training and preliminary talks took place but it ended soon after it started,” a source privy to the discussion between Chelsea and Mikel informed allnigeriasoccer.com.

“The length of the contract being offered by Chelsea is not known because he wasn’t ready to discuss with them until the end of the season.”

Obi Mikel has played nonstop at Chelsea for the past ten years after joining the club from Lyn Oslo in Norway.

It is understood clubs based in China, Italy, France and Turkey are monitoring the situation of the Nigeria international and could swoop for him in the summer.
