Victor Wickadson,Pele Appointed Interim Coaches At Plateau United; Baraje Steps Aside
Published: May 16, 2016The management of Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Plateau United FC of Jos has asked the technical adviser of the side Zachary Baraje to step aside.
According to a press release signed by the Media Officer of the team, Albert Dakup, the decision was taken following a string of poor results by the Simon Lalong boys in recent times.
Former Nigeria junior international, Victor Wickadson, has been mandated to serve in an acting capacity as the technical adviser.
Wickadson, who was not too long ago reassigned from the feeder side of the club to act as chief coach with the main team under Baraje, would now be assisted by Audu Isah Pele who will occupy the position of chief coach with Morris Lompiam and Tunde Adedara as assistant coaches.
All the appointments are on acting capacities and with immediate effect. Baraje was appointed in January 2016 and joined the team in a pre-season training camp in Kaduna before the start of the NPFL.
Last season, he had helped Akwa United of Uyo to win the Federation Cup title and this is his second at Plateau United.
Who would replace Baraje as substantive technical adviser is not known for now but inside sources at the Club informed us that the management is in talks with former Super Falcons Manager, Christopher Danjuma who worked as head of the technical crew three years ago.
Another former coach of the side Bernard Ogbe and Abia Warriors sweat merchant Kennedy Boboye were said to be in the running for the vacant post.
When allnigeriasoccer.com contacted Dakup on the list of possible replacements, he debunked it by saying it was a mere rumour and said management would evaluate the performance of the newly appointed coaches before making any further decision in the future.
He also stated that Baraje has not been sacked but was only asked to step aside.
Plateau United came from behind to play out a 1-1 draw with visiting El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri at the Rwang Pam Stadium on Sunday.
Wickadson’s baptism of fire will be an away match day 18 fixture against Heartland fc of Owerri at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Wednesday.
