Barcelona Stopper Ekpolo Has First Training Session With Nigeria U23s In Abuja
Published: June 24, 2016Barcelona stopper Godswill Ekpolo took part in his first training session with Nigeria’s Olympic National Team on Thursday evening.
This is the first time Nigeria U23s coach Samson Siasia will observe Ekpolo at close quarters, as the former Nantes striker was handling the senior national team when the defender first trained with the team in Brazil late March.
It remains to be seen if the manager will select the Spanish-based player ahead of ex-Golden Eaglets skipper Musa Mohammed when he announces his 18-man roster.
Unlike Musa Mohammed who has predominantly featured as a right fullback, Godswill Ekpolo can play comfortably in a number of positions, including fullback, center-back and midfield.
Meanwhile, the players were informed on Thursday that they will face the Flying Eagles in a friendly at the National Stadium this weekend.
