Ex-Man City, West Ham & Watford Talents Choose To Represent Nigeria Over England
Published: July 07, 2016A couple of exciting youngsters of Nigerian descent based in England have signaled their intentions to represent the national teams of Nigeria ahead of the Three Lions.
The Nigeria Football Federation have lost the services of Ross Barkley (Everton) and Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur) to England, with both players already making their competitive debuts, while Jordon Ibe (Liverpool) and Dominic Solanke (Chelsea) have decided to continue playing for England youth teams.
But Team Nigeria UK boss, David Doherty, says there is nothing to worry about as he has convinced several English-born footballers to choose Nigeria ahead of England.
“There are a lot of Nigerian talents, we are not worried about Dominic Solanke, Jordon Ibe, Dele Alli etc, ” Doherty said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“There are some sensational talents coming through academies across UK and Europe that we are in contact with.
“Emmanuel Onariase (former West Ham) and Nathaniel Oseni ( ex-Man City) are good products and are available for Nigeria. Uche Ikpeazu is also available. ”
Released Watford striker Uche Ikpeazu was on the radar of coach Samson Siasia and invited him on two occasions to the Dream Team VI squad but he could not honour the call ups because the get-together was outside the window for international matches approved by Fifa.
