Second Longest Serving Player Mikel Preparing To Bid Farewell To Chelsea
John Obi Mikel has announced that he might end his more than ten-year association with Chelsea when he comes off contract at the end of the 2016-2017 season.

The defensive midfielder can reach an agreement with an interested club when the January transfer window opens for business per Fifa rules.

“When you have a year left, in January you are allowed to talk to other clubs and sign a pre-contract or have an agreement so, yes, I will talk to other clubs because you never know what is going to happen,” Mikel said, according to Sky Sports UK.

“This season is the last at the club if my contract ends. I am quite relaxed about it, the future looks good.”

Mikel has played nonstop at Chelsea since 2006 when he arrived Stamford Bridge from Lyn Oslo and has recorded 368 appearances for the first team.

The Nigeria skipper was not included in the Blues squad for their League Cup clash with Leicester City on Tuesday night despite being fit.
