Ex-Feyenoord Star Provides Key Update On Clients Ehizibue, Ebuehi Link To Nigeria National Team
Published: October 22, 2016
Highly respected Dutch agent Wessel Weezenberg, who is the bonafide intermediary of wing-backs Kingsley Ehizibue and Tyronne Ebuehi, has confirmed that his clients have not been directly approached by the Nigeria Football Federation to represent the Super Eagles in future.
Speculations are rife in the local media that Ebuehi is in line to be called up to the national team ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Algeria, but former Feyenoord star Weezenberg has dismissed the reports, adding that the priority of his clients now is to establish themselves in the first team at their respective clubs.
“Until now it (playing for Nigeria) has only be a topic of superficial discussion with both players as their main focus is to become regular first team players at their respective clubs, ” Wessel Weezenberg told allnigeriasoccer.com.
PEC Zwolle rising star Kingsley Ehizibue, 21, is eligible to represent the German, Dutch and Nigerian national teams but the Royal Dutch Football Association are in pole position for his services, with the winger already an U21 international for the country.
On the other hand, ADO Den Haag defender Tyronne Ebuehi has no caps for Netherlands youth teams.
