Injury updates on Nottingham Forest's Ola Aina and Rangers CB Balogun issued ahead of weekend games

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espírito Santo has not ruled out the possibility of Ola Aina returning to action for Sunday’s high-stakes FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

Aina, who picked up a calf injury during Nottingham Forest's 1-0 win over Manchester United at the City Ground in March, remains under assessment.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Nuno said: "It is the same we're accessing players day-by-day, we have players coming back that we have to access."

When asked specifically about Aina, he added: "Yes, he is one of the cases. Still tomorrow to go. Let's see."

Meanwhile, Rangers interim manager Barry Ferguson has ruled out centre-back Leon Balogun for their Scottish Premiership fixture against St Mirren scheduled for Saturday.

Balogun suffered a fractured cheekbone during Rangers' UEFA Europa League quarterfinal match against Athletic Bilbao.

The situation of both Nigerian defenders could prove pivotal for their respective clubs as the season enters its final stretch.

While the Portuguese manager will be hopeful of Aina’s return to bolster his squad against Manchester City, Ferguson will be banking on his team’s depth to cope without Balogun as they aim to finish the season on a strong note.
