Catch up on how players of Nigerian descent fared in the English Premier League on Saturday, October 22.

At the Emirates Stadium, Nigeria international Alex Iwobi was relatively quiet as Arsenal ended their six-match winning streak following a goalless draw against a defensive Middlesbrough side.

The number 17 subbed out in the 67th minute. Chuba Akpom was not included in the London team’s 18-man squad.

Over to the Vitality Stadium for the early kickoff, it finished goalless between Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur.

England U21 international Jordon Ibe and Three Lions star Dele Alli started for their respective teams but were replaced in the 60th and 72nd minute respectively. Dele was cautioned in the 37th minute. Josh Onomah was not involved for Spurs.

Ross Barkley worked a ninety-minute shift in midfield for Everton in their 2-1 loss to Burnley at Turf Moor.

Moses Odubajo’s Hull City lost 2-0 at home to Stoke City. The former England youth-teamer will remain on the sidelines until next year after suffering an injury relapse.

Super Eagles vice captain Ahmed Musa opened his Leicester City account, albeit in a competitive fixture, in their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium.

The number seven got the ball rolling in the 42nd minute, drilling home a shot from 20 yards out. He was replaced in the 81st minute.

At the Liberty Stadium, Odion Ighalo returned to the Watford starting XI in their goalless draw versus Swansea City.

Whilst Ighalo played the full match, ex-Flying Eagles star Isaac Success failed a late fitness test and was not in the traveling party to SA1 2FA.

Angelo Ogbonna assisted West Ham goalkeeper post a shutout as the London team beat Victor Anichebe’s Sunderland 1-0. The Italy defender logged 90 minutes.

Anichebe watched proceedings from the bench while teammates, Josh Maja and Joel Asoro, were not involved.

In the late game, Ovie Ejaria, Sheyi Ojo and Tiago Ilori did not make Liverpool’s 18-man squad versus West Brom. Wales international Hal Robson-Kanu is on the bench for the Baggies.
