Super Eagles Officials Play Down Ideye, Balogun & Abdullahi Injury Fears
Published: November 08, 2016
Nigeria are sweating over the fitness of three players ahead of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Uyo.
Mainz defender Leon Balogun, Cypriot-based midfielder Abdullahi Shehu and Olympiakos striker Brown Ideye did not participate in full training on Tuesday morning.
Balogun and Shehu picked up knocks during last weekend’s matches for their respective clubs, and Ideye is struggling to overcome a minor ankle complaint.
Team officials have played down fears that the trio would not be available for selection against Algeria.
Of the three aforementioned players, only Brown Ideye was given a run out in the Super Eagles 2-1 win over Zambia last month.
