France, China Possible Destinations For Nigeria Captain Obi Mikel
Published: November 18, 2016Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel might depart Chelsea in the January transfer window, if transfer speculation linking him with an exit from Stamford Bridge is anything to go by.
According to The Sun, the holding midfielder is attracting interest from Ligue 1 giants Marseille and an unnamed Chinese Super League club.
Of the aforementioned destinations, a move to the Far East makes the most sense for Mikel for the simple reason that they will be able to meet his wage demands, thought to be in the region of three million pounds per season.
Mikel, 29, has seen himself fall down the pecking order of midfielders under Italian coach Antonio Conte upon his return to the Blues after representing Nigeria at the 2016 Olympic Games.
His contract with the London team will run out in June 2017, and he has not yet negotiated a new deal.
