Nigeria U23 Target Uche Ikpeazu One Goal Away From Breaking Record
Published: December 18, 2016Former Reading whizkid Uche Ikpeazu tallied his sixth goal of the season in all competitions as Cambridge United beat one of his former clubs, Crewe Alexandra, 2-1 in the EFL League Two on Saturday.
Ikpeazu opened scoring in the 51st minute at The R Costings Abbey Stadium, bringing his tally in the league to five goals, and he also bagged a goal against Middlesbrough in the EFL Trophy in October.
In the 2015-2016 season, the 21-year-old notched six goals in total for League One club Port Vale across all competitions.
The previous season was his weakest return in goals scored, managing only two, and he tallied four goals in his debut season as a professional while defending the colours of Crewe Alexandra.
If Ikpeazu should find the back of the net against Stevenage on Boxing Day, the physical striker will set a new individual record for goals scored in a single-season.
