Diamond, ASJ Warring Over Nwakali Transfer Fee; Arsenal Erroneously Sent 37,500 Pounds
Published: December 19, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that two Nigerian clubs Diamond Academy and ASJ Academy are warring over the 2.5 million pounds transfer fee paid by Arsenal for the services of Flying Eagles skipper Kelechi Nwakali in the summer.
Before the midfielder’s switch to the Emirates Stadium, both clubs had reached an agreement for the fee to be shared at 65:35 ratio with ASJ Academy due the lesser sum.
The Gunners paid £2.5 million directly into the bank account of Diamond Academy, who were supposed to remit £875,000 to ASJ Academy but sent only £500,000, a shortfall of £375,000.
Arsenal also mistakenly sent £37,500 being the solidarity compensation due ASJ from the transfer of Kelechi Nwakali to Diamond Academy, and the Umuahia based club have refused to return the money despite several entreaties by the English Premier League club, Nigeria Football Federation and ASJ.
Amajiriaku Emeka, the CEO of ASJ Academy, is demanding that Diamond Academy must pay all the accrued debts or they will take the matter to the law courts.
