Crystal Palace loanee on NFF's radar named in League Two Team of the Season after 20 clean sheets
Published: April 28, 2025
Crystal Palace loanee Owen Goodman has been recognized for his outstanding performances this season, with the AFC Wimbledon shot-stopper earning a spot in the EFL League Two Team of the Season.
The London born player is eligible to represent three countries at international level, namely Nigeria, England and Canada.
It is known that he is a player of interest to the Nigeria Football Federation as he was handed a call-up to a Flying Eagles training camp before the 2023 U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Last summer, Goodman paid a visit to Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau, fueling speculation that he has not ruled out playing for the Super Eagles despite appearances for England and Canada youth teams.
Following his clean sheet in AFC Wimbledon's 0-0 draw with Chesterfield on April 18, Goodman now boasts an extraordinary 21 clean sheets for the 2024-2025 season, including 20 in League Two and one in the FA Cup.
No goalkeeper in League Two has kept more clean sheets than the tri-national player so far in the 2024-2025 season, a feat he shares with Colchester United's Matt Macey.
When it comes to the top four divisions of English football, only Burnley's James Trafford (33) and Leeds United's Illan Meslier (21) have kept more clean sheets that the Crystal Palace academy graduate.
Goodman has received four call ups for Premier League games but was an unused substitute, in matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton & Hove, Arsenal and Southampton during the 2022-2023 season.
