Forward eligible for Nigeria, two other countries trains with Arsenal first team pre-PSG
Published: April 28, 2025
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta promoted tri-national forward Nathan Butler-Oyedeji to first team training on Monday, on the eve of his side's UEFA Champions League semifinal first leg clash against Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium in London, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Born in London, the Hale End Academy graduate is eligible to represent the national teams of Nigeria through his father, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines through his mother and his country of birth England.
Butler-Oyedeji took part in the Gunners' final training session at the Sobha Realty Training Centre before their match against the French Ligue 1 champions, putting himself in the frame for selection in the matchday squad.
Mikel Merino, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Ethan Nwaneri were among the forwards spotted during the training session.
Butler-Oyedeji has been included in twenty-three matchday squads for first-team fixtures during the 2024-2025 season, making two appearances as a substitute.
In January 2025, Butler-Oyedeji made his senior Arsenal debut in the UEFA Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb, and just eight days ago, he marked his Premier League debut against Ipswich Town.
Having eliminated Liverpool, the Premier League champions, in the round of 16 and Aston Villa in the quarterfinals, PSG are now targeting a third English club in a row for elimination from the competition.
In five competitive games against the north London side, the Parisians have failed to win, with three draws and two losses, including a semifinal clash in the 1993-1994 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.
