Nigeria Coach Optimistic ADO Den Haag Talent Ebuehi Will Debut Against Senegal
Published: January 04, 2017
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is optimistic that ADO Den Haag defender Tyronne Ebuehi will accept his invitation to the national team for the international friendly against Senegal in March.
Barely two months ago, the German manager could not persuade Ebuehi to make his international debut versus Algeria in a World Cup qualifier, with the right-back citing the need to first establish himself in the first team of his club.
“In the right-back position, I have met with Tyrone Ebuehi, a very good player. I invited him the last time but he only just started to play for ADO Den Haag. But now, he is playing regularly, ” Rohr told reporters.
“I have spoken with his parents and they are in support. The manager and agent are okay with everything.”
The former Bayern Munich defender added : “So Tyrone will be there in March for our next game. So we will have a new right-back or even left-back because he can play in both positions.
“He is big, he is quick and grew up in Amsterdam. We will see his integration into the team which will not be easy.”
Since the World Cup qualifier against Algeria, Ebuehi has started every single game for his club in the Eredivisie.
