EFL Trophy Wrap: Sowunmi Scores, Akinfenwa Scores In Shootout; Osayi-Samuel, Ariyibi Out; Onariase Stops Ndukwu

At Bloomfield Road, Wycombe Wanderers qualified for the quarterfinal after a penalty shootout win against Bright Osayi-Samuel’s Blackpool. The winger started but was replaced with 17 minutes left on the clock.
The Blues number 20 Adebayo Akinfenwa came off the bench in the 71st minute. He scored his penalty kick to make it 4-3.
Over to Huish Park Stadium, Omar Sowunmi helped Yeovil Town to register a 4-2 victory over Reading. He was introduced in the 56th minute and scored nine minutes later.
United States youth international Gboly Ariyibi started Chesterfield’s 4-0 loss to Luton Town. He was replaced 10 minutes out of intermission.
Scunthorpe United midfielder Hakeem Adelakun was a non-playing substitute in his team’s 4-1 loss to Oxford United at The Kassam Stadium.
Leicester City were hammered 6-1 by Cheltenham Town at the LCI Rail Stadium in round two.
Three Nigerian youngsters started. Joshua Debayo and England youth-teamer Layton Ndukwu started for the Foxes, while new signing Emmanuel Onariase played for Cheltenham Town.
Debayo was taken off after 68 minutes.
