Ex-Flying Eagles Striker Wins League One December Goal of the Month Award
Published: January 13, 2017Former Nigeria U20 international Sammy Ameobi has won the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month award for December 2016.
Ameobi’s strike in Bolton Wanderers 4-0 rout of Gillingham won the poll, and he received 68 percent of the votes.
He picked the ball up in midfield, strode forward, then stepped inside on the edge of the box and clipped an unstoppable shot into the far corner.
To win the accolade, Ameobi saw off competition from Ian Henderson (Rochdale) and Gwion Edwards ( Peterborough).
The 24-year-old is back at his parent club Newcastle United after spending the first half of the season at BL6 6JW.
