EFL League Two club Barnet have confirmed their retained list following the end of the 2016-2017 season.

The Bees have announced that Nigerian striker Sam Akinde will depart the club when he comes off contract in June 2017.

Born in Greenwich 24 years ago, Sam Akinde joined Barnet in March and made his Football League debut when he came off the bench in the 85th minute against Wycombe Wanderers.

He spent the whole of his career at non-league clubs Kettering Town, Ebbsfleet United, Alfreton Town, Dover Athletic, Kingstonian, Hereford United, Welling United, Basingstoke Town and St Albans City before moving to the Hive Stadium.

Sam's elder brother John Akinde is Nigeria's top scorer in England's top four divisions this season with 26 goals (2 assists).
