Liverpool's Nigerian Striker Set For Third Consecutive Loan Spell
Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi will not be retained by Dutch club NEC Nijmegen.

NEC were relegated to the Jupiler League after losing on aggregate to NAC Breda in the playoffs, and have thought it best to part company with the foreigners loaned last season, Awoniyi, Ali Messaoud (FC Vaduz) and Lorenzo Burnet (Slovan Bratislava) because of their reduced budget.

It is a foregone conclusion that the ex-Flying Eagles star will be farmed out on loan by Liverpool for a third consecutive season as he is not qualified for a work permit in England.

The striker was first loaned out to FSV Frankfurt in the 2nd Bundesliga during the 2015-2016 campaign, but they passed up the opportunity to sign him on a permanent basis after they were demoted at the end of the season.

Last season, Taiwo Awoniyi netted 3 goals in 21 appearances for the first team of NEC, while he found the net five times for the Reserves in the Beloften Eerste Divisie.
