What Rohr Told Super Eagles In The Dressing Room After Shock Loss To RSA
Published: June 12, 2017Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr remained calm in the wake of the national team slumping to a shock 2-0 loss to South Africa in their first game of the 2019 African Nations Cup qualifiers.
The young Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem and goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi are being scapegoated for the Super Eagles first-ever loss to Bafana Bafana in a competitive fixture, however, the German refused to give them the hairdryer treatment in the dressing room.
''Rohr was not angry with any of the players after the game. He did not pick on Awaziem or Akpeyi in the dressing room,'' a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''He told them they lost focus and didn't play to their capability, should put the defeat behind them and get ready for the next game.''
Next up, the Super Eagles, who top Group B of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification, face Cameroon in August.
