Ex-Man Utd, Liverpool Stars, Messi Convince Neymar To Snub PSG For Barcelona Stay
Published: July 22, 2017Brazil poster boy Neymar has decided to remain at Barcelona amid reports he is close to completing a transfer to French moneybags Paris Saint-Germain.
Leading Spanish sports dailies Marca and AS have reported that former Manchester United defender Gerard Piqué, ex-Liverpool striker Luis Suárez, and Lionel Messi have spoken to Neymar publicly and privately to convince him that he should remain at the Camp Nou.
The Brazilian had earlier assured the leadership of PSG that he was going to sign for the Ligue 1 club, but has changed his mind under pressure from his teammates and after a meeting with Barca president Josep María Bartomeu.
If Neymar had not reversed his decision to join PSG, he would have penned a five-year contract and earned thirty million euros wages every year.
The 25-year-old has been named in the starting XI for Barcelona's International Champions Cup clash against Juventus on Saturday night.
Neymar penned a contract extension with Barcelona last summer which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2021.
