Official: Manchester United Mutually Terminate Contract Of South American Right Back
Published: August 12, 2017Through official channels, Manchester United have confirmed that they have ended their four-year association with former Uruguay youth international Guillermo Varela.
The right back has returned to Uruguay and penned a three-year contract with Peñarol, the last club he represented before he was acquired by the Red Devils in 2013, after starring at the Fifa U20 World Cup, where he played against Nigeria.
Varela plans to return to Europe as he has inserted an exit clause into his deal with the 48-time Primera División champions, stipulating that he can depart the club before the close of the summer transfer window.
Manchester United and Varela mutually agreed to a contract termination and the 24-year-old arrives Peñarol as a free agent.
The South American appeared 11 times for United's first team and spent time on loan at Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt .
