Exclusive: Chelsea-Linked Nigerian Starlet Kelechi Heading To Maccabi Haifa
Published: September 28, 2017Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that Israeli powerhouse Maccabi Haifa are in pole position for the signature of highly-rated Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Onyewuenyi.
The Greens have firmed up their interest in the Texas-born youngster by inviting him for trial, with a view to offering him a professional contract.
Kelechi and his Nigerian agent Ndubuisi Onyeali, who brokered the deal that took Emem Eduok to Turkish club Kasımpaşa, will jet out to Israel next week.
The Houston Dynamo product had been pushing for a move to an English Premier League club, Chelsea in particular, after his agent contacted Technical Director Michael Emenalo, but he has been advised to join Maccabi Haifa by officials of the Israeli club.
Maccabi Haifa argued that one of the most famous players in their history, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, distinguished himself at the club before earning a transfer to Portsmouth.
Kelechi will join Maccabi Haifa as a free agent if he's offered a deal as his developmental contract with Houston Dynamo expired when he turned 18.
