Manchester United, Barcelona-Linked Striker Named Best Player In Belgium
Published: November 21, 2017Manchester United and Barcelona-linked striker Henry Onyekuru has been unofficially named the best player in the Belgian First Division A after the first fifteen matches in the league in the 2017-2018 season.
Belgian newspaper HLN asked ten of their football writers to pick the most outstanding player in the division so far, and the chief football writer Stephan Keygnaert went for the Nigeria international.
Stephan Keygnaert said : ''Onyekuru. He is the best. If the question was: ‘who is the most regular’ I would have answered ‘Vormer and Stanciu’. Vormer the most regularly good, Stanciu the most regularly bad.''
Only Mechelen's Burkina Faso striker Boureima Hassane Bandé and Isaac Thelin of Waasland-Beveren (8 goals) have scored more goals than Onyekuru, who has tallied 7 goals from 14 matches.
Barcelona, Manchester United, Southampton, Stoke, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven were among the teams that watched the former Eupen sensation net the winner against Royal Excel Mouscron last weekend.
The 20-year-old attacker is spending the whole of this season on loan at Anderlecht as he failed to secure a work permit after he was signed by Everton.
