Official : Promising Defender Extends Contract With Liverpool
Through a statement on their official website, Premier League club Liverpool have announced that promising defender Corey Whelan has extended his contract with the club.

The financial terms and duration of the new deal signed by Whelan were not disclosed by the Anfield based club.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international has been on the books of Liverpool for more than ten years, having joined the club at U10 level.

The 20-year-old joined Liverpool from Crewe Alexandra, where he was coached by current Liverpool U23s manager Neil Critchley.

Corey Whelan, who was handed the captain's armband for the U23 squad at the start of this season, has yet to make his competitive debut for the first team.
