Canada Call-Up For Vancouver Whitecaps Lagos-Born Striker Teni Akindoju
Vancouver Whitecaps striker Teni Akindoju has been called up to a training camp by the Canadian Soccer Association ahead of January's CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship in Trinidad and Tobago.

Born in Lagos to Nigerian parents 16 years ago, Akindoju moved to Canada along with her parents when she was two months old.

She was 12 when she earned her first call-up to Canada's U15 national team and has played internationally for the U17 squad.

Teni Akindoju has not played competitively for Canada's senior team, meaning she can still turn out for the Super Falcons, whereas Vancouver Whitecaps defender Sam Adekugbe and FC Dallas midfielder Tesho Akindele are no longer eligible to play for the Super Eagles.

Twenty eight players were invited to the get-together in Burnaby, BC and eight players will be dropped before the 2018 CONCACAF Women's U20 Championship.

Canada have been drawn into Group A for the tournament which also includes Costa Rica, Haiti and hosts Trinidad & Tobago.
