'Iwobi, Ekong & Balogun Came To Camp With A Little Knock' - Rohr Confident Trio Will Be Ready For RSA
Published: November 14, 2018
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is confident that Alex Iwobi, William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun will be ready for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa despite not taking part in full training on Tuesday evening in Asaba.
The German-born tactician stressed that the three players are not seriously injured and had a little knock when they reported for international duty.
''They came into camp with a little of a knock, so we just don't want to stress them a lot,'' Gernot Rohr told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''We will take it gradually and try our best to keep them fresh and fit for Saturday. In all, I am very confident they will be ready.''
Rohr indicated that the youthful nature of his side might give them an edge when they take on South Africa, noting that his young side are much more experienced now than they were when the first leg was played in Uyo.
''We have a very young side which is getting better and better especially since the World Cup.

''This could be an advantage for us this weekend because when you are young you tend to be expressive and with a match of such magnitude, we need people who can express themselves on the pitch without fear,'' added Rohr.
The former Bayern Munich defender went on to point out his satisfaction of the way his players are faring at their various clubs, sighting that this will naturally affect the National Team positively.

''Our players are better off now than they were when I came in.
''They are playing more games in their clubs and not just playing but having key roles. This we didn't have when I came in. Naturally the team will start benefiting from this,'' Roh concluded.
