Iwobi Rated Highly In Embarrassing Arsenal Defeat To Liverpool At Anfield
Super Eagles winger cum midfielder Alex Iwobi had a good individual game in a very poor Arsenal outing at the Anfield Saturday evening as a rampant Liverpool side romped to a 5-1 hiding over the Gunners which extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to nine points.

Iwobi provided the assist for Ainsley Maitland-Niles for Arsenal's goal in the 11th minute but it turned out that the efforts of the Nigerian and  his young England youth international teammate were the only positives from a disappointing match.

Football.London rightly considered Iwobi as one of the few bright spots in an otherwise shambling display by the Gunners.

"Alex Iwobi: "Involved early on as he stung the palms of Alisson before teeing up Maitland-Niles with a wonderful ball across the face of goal. Certainly one of the team's better players on the pitch with his positive running. 6," the website wrote.

For football blog, www.arsenalstation.com, Iwobi was the Gunners' best player in the game:

"Iwobi  6/10. Our best outfield player – which wasn't a difficult award to win. Was our only real threat and set-up the goal with a lovely cross for Maitland-Niles."

A six out of 10 was also the rating handed to the Nigerian by www.90min.com who just reeled out the numbers without texts on each individual player although they gave  their assessment of the two teams collectively.

Arsenal's next league game is a New Year home game against 18th placed Fulham who defeated Huddersfield Town 1-0 away earlier in the day.
