Arsenal's Nigerian Winger & Goalkeeper Generating Serious Interest From German Bundesliga Clubs
Published: January 17, 2019According to the online edition of The Independent, two players of Nigerian descent in the ranks of Premier League side Arsenal could be moving to the Bundesliga in the near future.
Right winger Xavier Amaechi and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo are among the young players based in England generating transfer interest from unnamed German clubs.
The two teenagers are seen as assets to Arsenal and penned their first professional contracts with the north London club immediately after they celebrated their seventeenth birthday.
England U18 glovesman Okonkwo was targeted by RB Leipzig before he was convinced to sign a scholarship with the Gunners last summer.
Amaechi, who is also an England youth international, is one of the special players at Arsenal youth setup and could have made his first team debut in the last quarter of 2018 if not for an injury he suffered while on international duty.
This season, the 18-year-old winger has had a hand in 7 goals (3 goals, 4 assists) for Arsenal U23s in the Premier League 2 while Okonkwo has appeared in seven matches for the U18s in the league.
