17-Year-Old Nigerian Midfielder Named In Reading FC's Matchday 18 Vs Wigan Athletic
Michael Olise is inching closer to making his professional debut for Championship club Reading FC, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The Royals manager José Manuel Gomes took everyone by surprise by naming the attacking midfielder in the matchday eighteen for the league match against Wigan Athletic on Saturday, March 9.

However, Olise, who was wearing the number 48 jersey, was not introduced off the bench as Reading beat Wigan 3-2 in a five-goal thriller at the Madejski Stadium.

Making the matchday squad just shows how highly rated the youngster is as he is still a first-year scholar at the club.

The 2001-born player would have become the 50th Academy product to represent Reading's first team if he had made his debut.

This season, Olise has played for Reading's youth teams in the U18 Premier League, U18 Premier League Cup, Premier League 2 and FA Youth Cup, scoring three goals.
