Chelsea Wonderkid Expects Golden Eaglets To Beat Angola And Qualify For World Cup
Published: April 16, 2019
Chelsea winger cum striker Adrian Akande expects the Golden Eaglets to beat Angola and qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup on Wednesday afternoon, and has explained why their opener against Tanzania was tough.
The 2003-born player is prepared to make his competitive debut for Nigeria after he was an unused substitute on Sunday and he would become provisionally cap-tied to the five-time world champions at U17 level if he gets some minutes.
''The game against Tanzania was tough, it was difficult to play against the home crowd but we managed to hold on to claim victory,'' Akande told reporters at the pre-match press conference.
''The game against Angola is more important for us because our ambition is to qualify to the FIFA U-17 World Cup and we need to win this game to achieve that.
''We are not under pressure; we are relaxed and are eager to do well. ''
Akande is in line to become the first player on the books of a Premier League
club to represent the Golden Eaglets at the U17 AFCON.
Bournemouth's Joseph Oluwabusola is also in contention to make his competitive debut for Nigeria against Angola U17s.
