PFA Young Player Of The Year Award : One Player Whose Omission Is Not Justifiable
Published: April 20, 2019The Professional Footballers' Association unveiled a list of six players vying for the season's Young Player of the Year Award on Saturday.
Meanwhile, many Premier League supporters faulted the list due to the absence of Leicester City's midfield enforcer Wilfred Ndidi.
It is still a surprise to many fans how a player with the highest number of tackles in the League didn't make the cut.
Ndidi, 22, has always maintained a high level of consistency at the middle of the park for the Foxes all through this season.
The inclusion of Declan Rice and David Brooks further raised more questions about the yardstick used by the Professional Footballers' Association while compiling the list.
Rice, 20, has been phenomenal for the Hammers, but hasn't done enough to beat the Nigeria international on the list.
As for Brooks, seven goals in 32 matches is just too low to merit a place in the list of players vying for such prestigious award.
Ndidi still stands a chance of winning an individual award by the end of the campaign as he was nominated for Leicester City's Young Player of the Year for the third time running.
