Arsenal Prodigy Tops Three Foreign-born Players Who Can Secure Super Eagles Goalkeeping Department
Published: June 05, 2019
The Super Eagles is currently blessed with many young strikers who are in top form but the same cannot be said about goalkeepers.
Francis Uzoho, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi have manned the goal in time past but none of them has actually lived up to the hype.
It won't be out of place to begin the search for some technically sound netminders who will secure the position in the next three years.
Here is a list of top three Nigeria-eligible goalies who could provide the best solution to the ugly situation facing the country's goalkeeping department in the nearest future
Arthur Okonkwo
The 17-year-old Arsenal prodigy tops the list of youngsters whose reflex and ball distribution will bring class to the Super Eagles defense line.
The youngster trained with Arsenal's first team several times last season and was in the traveling party to Italy for the Europa League meeting with Napoli in April.
The NFF must do everything in their power to beat England to his signature.
Maduka Okoye
The German-born goalkeeper already declared his readiness to feature for Super Eagles but he's yet to get a call-up from Gernot Rohr.
He had an eventful season with Fortuna Dusseldorf last season and he is tipped as one of the best foreign-born players of Nigerian descent who will bring balance to the defensive setup.
Jonathan Zaccala
The 17-year-old was part of the Flying Eagles squad who recently crashed out of the ongoing U20 World Cup in Poland but he didn't make a single appearance.
The little-known youngster is technically sound and he is tipped for greatness in the nearest future. He currently plays for US Triestina in Serie C.
