2019 AFCON : Omeruo & Simon Reactions After Super Eagles Win Against Guinea
Published: June 27, 2019Three-time African champions Nigeria are through to the last 16 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations thanks to their 1-0 win against Guinea on Wednesday.
After over 40 appearances for the senior national team, Chelsea-owned defender Kenneth Omeruo netted his maiden goal to give the Super Eagles all three points, and he has advised his teammates to remain focused ahead of their next match against Madagascar.
Speaking to CAF Media in the mixed zone, Omeruo stated : ''I feel proud of the team, it is a difficult weather but we've been working hard even when we were in tough situations, we kept working hard.
''We knew this game will be difficult and we are happy we could come out with the win.
''We have to study the other teams, firstly it's the Madagascar game, we have to keep our focus and make sure we win that game.''

Omeruo dedicated his Man of the Match award to two individuals very close to his heart.
''This is for my family, I thank them for the support - my wife, my baby as well. I am happy and I hope they keep supporting us and by God's grace we will get to the final.''
Levante winger Moses Simon was delighted with the difficult win and urged his teammates not to rest on their laurels.
Simon said : ''We feel so happy about it, I will say we just need to fight hard, work hard and keep our heads up because we don't need to be carried away.
