'I Thought That I Would Play At Chelsea And Make My Name' - Omeruo Drops Major Hint Over Future At Stamford Bridge
Published: July 06, 2019After seven and a half years on the books of Chelsea, Kenneth Omeruo has not made his competitive debut for the Europa League winners and the central defender has hinted that he will consider leaving the club before the close of the summer transfer window.
There has been talk in recent weeks about a permanent switch to CD Leganes following his impressive performances for the Spanish side throughout last season.
Despite the fact Omeruo is eligible for a work permit to play in the Premier League, he has spent successive loan spells at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasimpasa, Alanyaspor and Leganes.
''I thought that I would play at Chelsea and make my name,'' Omeruo said to The Sun UK.
''But going there and seeing the types of players arrive plus the club have so much money to spend, you have to accept that it might not happen.
''I could have said I would stay and be on the bench but I am a player that wants to play. I want to earn my money.''

Omeruo added : ''I think now’s the time for me to leave, to find a place, to be my own man.....
''It has been a wonderful journey. But the journey with Chelsea is going to end now.''
Omeruo has been one of the star performers for Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, helping goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi to post shutouts in their first two games against Burundi and Guinea.
