'We Know Them Very Well'- Ex-Chelsea Midfielder Furman Reminds Super Eagles They Lost In Uyo
Published: July 08, 2019Former Chelsea midfielder Dean Furman fancies South Africa's chances of beating Nigeria when the two regional powerhouses trade tackles in the quarterfinal of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Wednesday night heralds the rematch of Super Eagles vs Bafana Bafana, less than eight months after both teams played out a 1-1 draw in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Johannesburg.
Furman was absent from that meeting because of a shoulder injury but went the distance in their 2-0 victory against Nigeria in June 2017.
''Tonight some of our forward play was outstanding and it was one goal, we could have scored two or three more so we are very, very happy with the victory and excited for the next round,'' Furman said in the mixed zone after the round of 16 clash vs Egypt.
Asked on how he will prepare for the next game against Nigeria, the SuperSport United star said : ''It is going to be tough, we had Nigeria in our qualification group, we beat them away and we drew with them at home.
''They are a top side, they have got many great players. We look forward to it, it is going to be a good encounter, we know them very well, they know us very well.
''We are excited to play Nigeria now''.

The Super Eagles prepared for the upcoming meeting against South Africa by holding a recovery session at the Helnan Palestine Hotel yesterday.
