Published: July 11, 2019The statistics from Wednesday's Africa Cup of Nations win against South Africa highlighted the influence of Samuel Chukwueze during the game with the Villarreal winger the top performer in three player stats.
According to Whoscored.com, Nigeria had 11 shots on goal with Chukwueze contributing three, the most by a player, and the Villarreal youngster completed the most take-ons (4) along with South Africa's Percy Tau.
Three Super Eagles players tied for the most key passes (2); Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi and second half substitute Moses Simon.
Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo recorded a game-high six interceptions, one more than Ndidi, while Chidozie Awaziem had the highest number of tackles with four.
From an offensive perspective, Troost-Ekong won a joint game-high four fouls alongside Buhle Mkhwanazi and Percy Tau.
The Super Eagles top passer overall was Oghenekaro Etebo with 36, followed by Alex Iwobi (34) and Wilfred Ndidi (33). South Africa defender Thulani Hlatshwayo finished with a game-high 65 passes.
Buhle Mkhwanazi and Dean Furman racked up four clearances each, one more than the Super Eagles top player in that category, Wilfred Ndidi.
Strasbourg's Lebo Mothiba was the dirtiest player on the pitch, committing 10 fouls, 6 more than Jamilu Collins, Odion Ighalo and Wilfred Ndidi.
Of the five shots on goal taken by Bafana Bafana, one was blocked by Wilfred Ndidi.
Mothiba's 96.4 percent passing accuracy was the most of any player including the substitutes. Etebo had the best passing accuracy for Nigeria (91.7%).
