Published: July 18, 2019Allnigeriasoccer.com looks at the key numbers from the Super Eagles 1-0 victory against Tunisia in the Africa Cup of Nations third-place playoff on Wednesday evening.
According to Whoscored.com, Nigeria had ten shots with four of the Super Eagles efforts hitting target, three more than Tunisia who attempted 11 shots.
Late sub Samuel Kalu's two shots were on target, more than the remaining 27 players who tasted action.
Six shots played by the Tunisians were blocked by Kenneth Omeruo (2), Wilfred Ndidi (2), Ola Aina (1) and William Troost-Ekong (1).
Wahbi Khazri had a game-high three shots, ahead of Samuel Kalu, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze with two each. The Tunisia number 10 was also the top man in key passes with four.
Wilfred Ndidi and Mohamed Dräger were the most fouled players, each winning four fouls, followed by Ghilane Chaalali, Wahbi Khazri, Oghenekaro Etebo and Victor Osimhen with three each.
Tunisian trio Dräger, Hnid and Chaalali won the most aerial duels (2 each), one more than Omeruo, Ndidi and Osimhen.
Jamilu Collins (6) and Troost-Ekong (5) had the highest number of tackles and clearances respectively.
When it comes to interceptions, three Super Eagles players Ola Aina, Etebo and Ndidi tied for the top spot with three each.
Ferjani Sassi and Ellyes Skhiri were successful with three dribbles each, two more than Omeruo, Collins, Ndidi, Chukwueze, Musa, Ighalo and Osimhen.
Of the Super Eagles players that started the game, Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi had the best passing accuracy (95.2 percent); Tunisia's Ellyes Skhiri had the best pass completion rate with an impressive 98.3 percent.
Ndidi's 50 passes was not bettered by any Super Eagles player on the pitch but 8 less than the top performer in that category, Skhiri.
