Chelsea Wonderkid Named After Colombia Hero Faustino Asprilla Scores An Absolute Beauty Vs Bournemouth U18
Published: July 20, 2019Nigeria-eligible midfielder Faustino Anjorin was among the scorers for Chelsea U18s in their 7-2 rout of Bournemouth U18s in a pre-season fixture staged at Canford Park Arena on Saturday, July 20.
According to Chelsea Youth, the Young Blues led 3-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Dion Rankine, Joe Haigh and an absolute belter from Anjorin, while Christian Saydee replied for the hosts.
The versatile midfielder has made a full recovery from a back injury which limited his appearances for Chelsea's youth teams last season.
Anjorin was the poster boy of Chelsea U18 squad before he was promoted to the U23 team and was involved in 15 goals (11 goals, 4 assists) last season in matches in the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League, FA Youth Cup and EFL Trophy.
His parents wanted him to take football as a career right from the day he was born
and decided to name him after Colombia and Newcastle legend, Faustino
Asprilla, who is the first player to score a hat-trick against Barcelona
in the Champions League.
If Anjorin remains at Chelsea, he has been tipped to make the transition from the academy to the first team in the near future.
