The One Stat That Proves Abraham Is In Line To Become Chelsea First Choice Striker
Published: August 07, 2019Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has strongly hinted that Nigeria-eligible striker Tammy Abraham has a role to play for the first team in the new season, if the pre-season matches are anything to go by.
According to stats published by the official website of Chelsea, Abraham played the most minutes of all the strikers involved in pre-season matches.
The England U21 international logged 293 minutes to place first ahead of Belgium star Michy Batshuayi (222 minutes), France World Cup winner Olivier Giroud (194 minutes) and Nigerian starlet Ike Ugbo (47 minutes).
As for Tomori, the handwriting is on the wall that he is behind Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Christensen in Lampard's pecking order of central defenders as the three players spent more time on the pitch than the England U20 World Cup winning center back in pre-season.
Only Ross Barkley (4) and Mason Mount (3) scored more goals than Abraham in pre-season games.
The Nigeria Football Federation target got on the scoresheet against Barcelona, his first goal for Chelsea, before netting his second goal vs Borussia Monchengladbach.
