'I'm Surprised Arsenal Let Him Go' - Lescott Backs Iwobi To Become A Fans Favorite At Everton
Published: August 23, 2019Former Manchester City and Everton defender Joleon Lescott is backing Alex Iwobi to become a fans favorite at Goodison Park and has questioned the decision of Arsenal to sell the Nigeria international on transfer deadline day.
Having spent fifteen years on the books of the Emirates outfit, Iwobi ended his association with the London club after joining the Toffees on a five-year deal.
Lescott believes the skills and qualities of the Super Eagles star will endear him to the Everton fans.
''I’m excited for Everton this season, I think they’ve spent well in areas that they needed to,” Lescott said on Sky Sports' The Debate.
''I’m thinking they are the next team to break into the top tier, possibly this season. I’m a big fan of Iwobi. I’m surprised Arsenal let him go.
''Iwobi seems to play with good energy and desire that fans want to see regardless. He seems to be running at his maximum every time he gets the ball, which will only hold him as a fans’ favourite at Everton.''

Iwobi was an unused substitute in Everton's last fixture against Watford and it remains to be seen if the winger will make his debut against Aston Villa tonight.
