Crystal Palace Will Be Regretting Decision To Release Nigerian Winger Dubbed 'Next Gareth Bale'
Published: August 27, 2019Premier League side Crystal Palace will be regretting their decision to release Nigerian winger Joseph Hungbo at the end of the 2018-2019 campaign.
The 19-year-old has been one of the standout players for Watford U23s since the start of the season, scoring in every single game he has played in the Professional Development League.
A pacy winger, Hungbo has already been compared with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale and could be in line for a first team debut at Watford sooner rather than later if he continues his impressive form.
He was knocking on the first team door before leaving Palace but suffered a shoulder injury in a pre-season friendly against Kingstonian which kept him on the sidelines for several weeks.
Hungbo had a highly successful stint with The Eagles youth teams, captaining their U18s and winning the club's Under 9-16 Player of the Year award in 2016.
Having netted on his competitive debut for Watford U23s against Hull City, he followed that up with goals against Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.
