Talented Chelsea Shot-Stopper Handed First International Call-Up By Nigeria
Published: August 28, 2019Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that promising Chelsea goalkeeper Prince Shakiru Adegoke could be in line to represent Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup after receiving a call-up to the national team for the first time in his young career.
After waiting for about two weeks for an official invitation letter, the promising shot-stopper was notified by the Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday to join the Golden Eaglets at their get together in Abuja.
Through a letter dated 27th August 2019 with reference number NFF/GEN/TECH/204/VOL. IV, the Nigerian Federation have contacted Chelsea and requested for the release of Adegoke for the Nigeria National U17 Men's Team.
The Nigeria Football Federation want to integrate exciting young talents, who have dual nationality, into the Nigeria National Teams, rather than approaching them when they become established players for their foreign clubs, and the cause is being championed by NFF Vice President Shehu Dikko.
And it is because of the aforementioned reason several foreign-based players on the books of English clubs have been invited to train with the Golden Eaglets ahead of the tournament in Brazil.
Prince Adegoke was snapped up by Chelsea in April 2016 after he was
spotted playing for the U12 team of Langley FC.
Meanwhile, former Watford teenage sensation Nigel Aris has started training with the Golden Eaglets and Aston Villa's Iffy Udanoh gave a good account of himself during the workout on Wednesday.
