Arsenal, PSV Midfielders With Nigerian Background Receive Maiden England U18 Call-Ups
Published: August 30, 2019The English Football Association have finalized their rosters for upcoming games in September after naming the squads for the U17-U21 national teams on Friday.
Surprisingly, no player of Nigerian descent has been named on the England U21, U20 and U17 rosters.
The likes of Tottenham's Timothy Eyoma, Chelsea's Tariq Uwakwe, Manchester City's Felix Nmecha and Queens Park Rangers' Eberechi Eze have been omitted from the Young Lions rosters.
New England U18 boss Ian Foster has picked Arsenal's Miguel Azeez and PSV starlet Nonso Madueke in his 21-man squad list for international matches next month, taking the total Nigeria-eligible players called up by England to six.
This is the first time the two midfielders have received call-ups to the U18 squad, a reward for their impressive displays for the U17 side last season.
Azeez and Madueke are in line to feature for the Young Lions in matches against Australia, Brazil and Korea Republic.
