Chelsea Refuse To Release Promising Goalkeeper To Nigerian Federation
Published: September 01, 2019Promising goalkeeper Prince Adegoke's hopes of representing Nigeria at the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup have gone up in smoke, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
Through a letter dated 27th August 2019 with reference number
NFF/GEN/TECH/204/VOL. IV, the Nigeria Football Federation contacted Chelsea
and requested for the release of Adegoke for the Nigeria National U17
Men's Team.
However, the Premier League side have no plans to release the goalkeeper citing it would be a waste of time and school, and playing for Chelsea would be more beneficial than playing for Nigeria.
It seems ever since the shabby treatment of Adrian Akande by coaches Manu Garba and Nduka Ugbade, there is no love lost between Chelsea and the Nigerian Federation.
It will be recalled that Akande was part of the Golden Eaglets squad to the U17 AFCON but the winger was not utilized in any of the five matches played in Tanzania.
The 15-year-old has insisted that he was better than the attack-minded players that featured for the five-time world champions and was being victimized by the Nigeria U17 coaches.
