Manchester United Striker Of Nigerian Descent Withdraws From Netherlands Squad
Netherlands U17 coach Mischa Visser has announced a final 21-player squad list for the upcoming friendlies against France with Manchester United striker Dillon Hoogewerf missing out on a spot.

Of the 33 players named on the original preliminary roster, eleven players have been placed on standby and Hoogewerf was the only player omitted.

And this suggests that the former Ajax Amsterdam whizkid has not fully recovered from the injury he suffered against Liverpool nine days ago.

The 16-year-old had to make way for Ayodeji Sotona 24 minutes into the game against The Reds.

Hoogewerf has been capped at U15 and U16 level by the Netherlands, scoring an impressive 8 goals in 13 appearances.

All the thirteen matches he played for the Netherlands youth teams were friendlies, meaning he can play for Nigeria without applying for a change of association just as William Troost-Ekong did prior to his debut for the Super Eagles.

De Oranjetalenten face France on Tuesday 17 September and Thursday 19 September, and both matches start at 1830 hours at the Vondersweijde sports park in Oldenzaal.
