Arsenal Legend Reveals The One Problem Iwobi Had At The Emirates
Published: September 15, 2019Arsenal legend Ian Wright has revealed that constant criticism from fans affected Alex Iwobi's performances during his time at the Emirates and insisted that the Gunners did good transfer business by selling the winger to Everton in the summer transfer window.
The Nigeria international has flourished in the early stages of his career at The Toffees, scoring two goals in his last two starts, and the key reason for that is because the fans are not putting too much pressure on him.
Speaking just before the start of the Premier League match between Bournemouth and Everton, BBC pundit Wright stated : ''I am delighted for him, you know I've watched him from a young age at Arsenal coming through the Academy.
''The problem he had at Arsenal is that I don't think the fans would have given him the kind of support that he would now get from Everton because he'll play a few games and then have a couple of mistakes in games and the fans totally turn against him. I just think it was getting toxic for him.
''For them to get that kind of money for him, he's about the only one Arsenal could have sold and got that kind of profit on and I think it worked out best for both parties''.

Iwobi became the most expensive player of Nigerian descent in history following his move to Everton for a fee in the region of 35 million pounds.
