Chelsea Coach Pleased To Give An Opportunity To Jordan Aina
Published: September 23, 2019Chelsea U18 coach Ed Brand was delighted to hand playing time to Jordan Aina in his side's 2-1 victory against Reading at Cobham Training Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The Nigerian fullback has not been first choice for the Young Blues in the early stages of the season but finally got a run-out when he came off the bench as a replacement for the injured Livramento in the 82nd minute.
''It was good that a couple of players got on the pitch who have worked really hard – Charlie Wiggett and Josh Brooking got their chance, it was George Nunn’s first start of the season and Jordan Aina got on at the end,'' Brand told Chelsea's official website.
''Those were all encouraging signs and Sam Iling-Junior, who is an Under-16, got 90 minutes as well.

''It’s something we’ve always done at this club, try to give young players an opportunity, and them getting minutes under their belt was another positive along with the result.''
Last season, Jordan Aina appeared in 11 matches for Chelsea in the U18 Premier League and was on the bench when the U23s faced Leicester City in the Premier League 2 in December 2018.
