Chelsea Defender Tomori Hailed For Pocketing Africa's Best Player
Former England U21 star Fikayo Tomori has been hailed by Chelsea legend Mario Melchiot following his brilliant performance against Liverpool on Sunday.

Tomori was put in charge of stopping African Footballer of the Year Mohamed Salah from scoring and the central defender passed the test with flying colours as the Egyptian fired blanks at Stamford Bridge.

''I also want to highlight Tomori, I spent 90 minutes watching this young kid and the way he played against Salah was really impressive,'' said Melchiot to TalkSport.

''There were moments where I didn’t even see Salah in the game, Tomori did really well against him.

''There were a couple of races where Salah had the ball and it was one-on-one situation and I thought this might be trouble. But he just managed to get the ball off him, hold possession and then carry on making sure the team could attack again.

''I really enjoyed watching Tomori play in a game of that size and doing so well.''

Tomori is now ahead of Kurt Zouma in Frank Lampard's pecking order of central defenders and has started the last four matches contested by the Blues in all competitions.
