Jorginho Reveals What Abraham Said To Him Before Taking Penalty Vs Brighton
Published: September 30, 2019Tammy Abraham was interested in taking the penalty kick awarded to Chelsea in their 2-0 victory against Brighton & Hove on Saturday.
The talk of Chelsea's first-choice penalty taker had volume added to it as Jorginho stepped up to take the kick in the 50th minute despite the fact Ross Barkley, who failed to convert a spot kick vs Valencia, was still on the pitch.
Chelsea's leading scorer this season, Abraham missed the decisive penalty which handed Liverpool the UEFA Super Cup on August 14, and Jorginho has revealed that he had a conversation with the striker moments before his kick against the Seagulls.
In quotes carried by the Telegraph, the Italy international said : ''He came up and said, 'You are taking the penalty?' and I said, 'yeah', and so he said 'OK'''.
Last season, Abraham scored six penalty kicks during his loan spell at Aston Villa and missed once against Rotherham United.
The number nine had a one hundred percent success rate from the penalty spot whilst on loan at Bristol City in the 2016-17 season, scoring two penalties.
